Hi everybody!! =D
From the committee of “Social Plan” of AIEMUM (IFMSA-Murcia) we want to welcome all of you and assure you that you will spend an amazing month with us in Murcia! We usually organize for you a great social plan, with different activities: from a trip to the beach to a weekend in Granada. We hope you like and enjoy the program! However, it’s not an imposition: if there is any activity that you don’t want to do, you won’t be obligated to do it, and if you really would like to do something else that is not in the social plan, just tell us and we’ll do our best to organize it for you. As you can see, there are some activities that must be organized in advance (hostels, buses, rafting…), so you will have to pay for them beforehand. We’ll give you a bank number for you to make the deposit. And nothing else! We hope you enjoy your stay in Murcia and if you have any questions don’t doubt asking us through our Facebook , we’ll answer as soon as possible! =) The committee. |
WELCOME DINNER
We want to welcome you to Murcia with dinner at your apartment where we will have typical food from Murcia. We will meet with you (as much of us from the committee as possible) so we can share experiences with you. And then ... party in the city center.
MURCIA’S TOURISTIC TOUR
Once all the incoming students have arrived, we'll arrange a tour to show you the city: where you can hang out, eat, go shopping, go to the cinema, to the Municipal pool...).

MURCIA’S TOURISTIC TOUR
Once all the incoming students have arrived, we'll arrange a tour to show you the city: where you can hang out, eat, go shopping, go to the cinema, to the Municipal pool...).
- Price: of course, this is free. It can be fun to have dinner all together or have a drink somewhere, so bring some money for that ;)
- How to get there: Santo Domingo is one of the main squares in Murcia. You can go walking from your flats. We’ll give you maps of the city the day of your arrival, so you don’t get lost ;P
- What to bring: nothing special, camera if you want and some money for drinking or eating something.
- Advices: be on time at the meeting point, please!!
AQUA NATURA
Aqua Natura is a small water park in Murcia, inside a zoo called “Terra Natura”. It’s not the best water park in the world (if you want to go to a better one, we suggest you to go by bus to Aqualandia, in Benidorm), but it can be a good plan for a hot afternoon in Murcia and you can get there easily by tram.
DINNER (Tapeo)
Tapeo is very typical in Murcia. The small dishes known as the "tapas" can be consumed as an aperitif or to replace a full meal, especially dinner. The word covers a wide variety of foods: olives, omelette with potatoes, frying pieces of ham and cheese, calamari, anchovies, etc. "Go to have tapas" is to go from bar to bar, tasting at the counter or at a table, each of the specialties, often accompanied by a small glass of red wine ("Chato") or a beer. The custom is to pay a tour of tapas. This option can be very expensive, so we propose you to go to a restaurant with good tapas very cheap.

RAFTING!
Murcia has a river called “Río Segura”, with very very little water in the city, but with much more in the north of the Region. The idea is to spend the morning descending the river.
The activity includes: the material, the instructors, a little brunch, a photograph report and the use of cloakrooms.
When: Suturday 9th July.

- Price : 20€
- What to bring: Bathing suit, towel, flip flops, sun cream, cap, clothes to change after the activity and soap to take a shower before coming back.
- Advices: Again, sun cream! We usually wear a bathing suit underneath a normal t-shirt and short trousers which will get wet. An old sport shoes is better than flip flops.
BEACH DAY!
One of the main attractions of our region is its huge variety of beaches and the nice weather (Murcia, where the sun lives!). There are some wild beaches with a difficult access (like the amazing Calblanque, in the first picture); there are other super touristic beaches and you can easily get there by bus (La Manga, second picture).
Our idea is to drive you by car to the wild ones, and teach you how to go by bus to the touristic ones!

- Price: The price is just the money for gas. It will be around 4-5 € that you will have to pay to the car driver. In case we don’t have enough car drivers, we will have to take the bus, which is a bit more expensive.
- How to get there: to the meeting point you can easily go walking (Plaza Circular it’s another main and centric place in Murcia)
- What to bring: Bathing suit, towel, flip-flops, SUNSCREAM and clothes to change after the activity. It’s important to bring lunch from home (sandwich, snacks, WATER…) because there are no bars near.
- Advices: We highly recommend to take sun protection because we will spend there many hours.
TRIP TO CARTAGENA (CATAMARÁN OLÉ)
Cartagena is the second most important city in our Region after Murcia (the capital). It’s not very big but it has a large history than to its port. We will visit the Roman Ruins (circus, amphitheater, theatre) and a lovely port. We’ll also go for a walk in a boat by the bay of Cartagena.
Opening times: We will decide it all together when you are here as it is just 30 minutes away from Murcia. You can decide whether to go to spend the morning, the afternoonevening, or the whole day.

- Price : It depends on the way of transport.
- Transport: the bus ticket costs around 9€ (go and come back) and we’ll pay it at the bus station the same day. By car it would be cheaper.
- Roman theatre: 6€ normal price (5€ with youth card). We’ll also buy the tickets there. Schedule: Mondays, closed. Tuesday-Satruday 10-20. Sundays, 10-14.
- Catamarán Olé (the boat): On Sunday there are just a walk in the boat all around the bay (8€ for adults and 6€ for students). However, on Thursdays, from 17-20 pm, there is a walk with music and bath in the sea. We recommend you this last option. It costs 12 € and you can bring your own food (the drinks must be bought in the boat). http://www.catamaranole.com/proximos-eventos.php# The boat it’s the only activity of this day you must pay in advance.
- What to bring: Sun cream, cap/hat and money to buy food/drinks. Do NOT bring bathing suit because the city has NO beaches (just the port and you cannot swim there).
- Advices: One more time, SUN CREAM. We’ll be walking most of the day and it can be really hot (less than Murcia, but hot anyways).
WEEKEND IN GRANADA
Granada is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. It’s a small one but its beauty is well known all over the world. The idea is to go there on thursday afternoon, visit the Alhambra Friday in the morning and go out there if possible with the Granada incomings.

SEVILLA Velá de Santa Ana
Sevilla is the capital city of Andalusia. Located in the South of Spain, Seville is one of the largest Spanish cities with over 700.000 inhabitants.
It is famous worldwide for its culture, monuments, traditions and artistic heritage. This is the birthplace of Flamenco and the city where the most amazing Easter processions take place.
Between 21 and 26 July, the Velá Santana (literally, "Saint Anne's evenings", because Saint Anne's day on the liturgical calendar is the 26 July) is celebrated on Betis Street. It is the city's second most important festival after the Feria de abril de Sevilla, although it is much older, dating from the 13th century.[12] Here people drink sherry wine and dance the sevillanas, a type of folk dance; eating roasted sardines is also a popular activity. The cucaña is a popular competition during this celebration: people try to take a prize from the top of a greasy pole over the river.

Balneario de Archena
Balneario de Archena is possibly one of the most historic spas since its beginnings date back to the 5th century BC, when the Iberian settlers settled in Archena, were the first to use the hot springs nestled in the Region of Murcia. The spa then became a must place to stop on the trade route into the interior of the peninsula to Castulo, capital of Turdetani. The Romans discovered the hot springs and decided to build a Spa.
Thanks to its properties, the Balneario de Archena´s minero-medicinal water is an excellent natural remedy for both physical conditions and to recover the general well-being of the body. This water has the ability to provide the rest and relaxation needed to improve the defense system, while favoring the maintenance and improvement of joints and facilitate the repair of the skin against aging.
Price may vary between 14 - 25 euro depending on the services you book.
Use swimming-cap, swimming costume and flip-flops in the entire pools complex. We recommend bring a towel or bathrobe or you could hire it in the Swimming-pools Access. You could leave your belongings in the changing rooms’ lockers, inserting 1€ coin to recover later.
